Mixed-Use

The historic home of the first permanent, for-profit movie theater in America is transformed for mixed-use, supporting revival efforts of the Canal Street Corridor.

overview

Quarter Holdings LLC engaged Palmisano as the Design-Build contractor for the historic renovation of a four-story mixed-use building located on Canal Street in the heart of downtown New Orleans. The property, which was formerly the first permanent, for-profit movie theater in America, is one of the city’s best surviving examples of a cast-iron façade on a commercial building. Scheduled for completion in 2020, this 26,780-square-foot property includes commercial space at the ground floor, short-term rentals on floors two through four, and a new penthouse space on the top floor.  Designed by Palmisano / Rozas Ward Architects, this project contributes to efforts to bring historic Canal Street properties back into commerce.
