Enwave USA engaged Palmisano as the Design-Assist contractor to lead commercial construction on the Biomedical District Steam Plant. The team constructed elements of the building envelope and performed a complete buildout of the control room, bunkroom, offices, conference room, break room, and restrooms. The scope also included industrial coatings for piping, equipment and tanks, and fireproofing of structural members throughout the plant. In the event of a discontinuation of electrical, natural gas or water utility service, the plant will be able to keep the New Orleans Biomedical District, which includes the LSU Medical Center, in continuous operation for up to seven days.
Completed in 2014, this 114,000-square-foot project required close coordination with the industrial mechanical subcontractors, adherence to the plant’s strict safety programs, and a high level of quality control. Palmisano, working alongside Burns & McDonnell, met all requirements while delivering the project to the client on time.
